I am a beginner with web code...so please be gentle with me.
I would like to pull steam data (Product Description, developer, stock photo even) to another website. I am trying to figure out an easy way to get product details automatically, possibly by using steam ID. I am finding very little if any documentation on how to do this.
I have an API key I obtained from steam. It looks like SteamDB has done something similar, but I'm unsure how its done.
Any help would be appreciated!!
Maybe I should have said "Infant" and not beginner. If I wanted to just pull back info on the description, how could I do that? And by description I mean "about the game"
Like what would my html code look like? Maybe I'm in over my head. Was hoping this would be easy. I have a simple box for a description that accepts html... see my screenshot.
You can't do it with html only.
Guess it requires php etc. Wanna do it for me? I gladly pay you. Just need one example written and then I can repeat it. hit me up on steam if interested.
I had a lot of spare time, so I made an example for you in PHP.
header( "Content-Type: text/html; charset=utf-8" );
$APPID = "252950";
$jsonResponse = json_decode( file_get_contents( "http://store.steampowered.com/api/appdetails?appids=$APPID&l=english" ), true );
if( $jsonResponse[$APPID]["success"] == true )
$data = $jsonResponse[$APPID]["data"];
echo "App Name: " . $data["name"] . "<br>";
echo "Developers: " . implode( ", ", $data["developers"] ) . "<br>";
echo "Website: " . $data["website"] . "<br>";
echo "Release Date: " . $data["release_date"]["date"] . "<br>";
echo "Categories: ";
forEach( $data["categories"] as $key => $value )
echo $value["description"] . ", ";
