I've been confused about which Steamdb entries that mean a game is activation lock.
So far we've known that "onlyallowrunincountries " means a game can only be run in the listed countries and also can only be activated in those countries. "AllowCrossRegionTradingAndGifting = No" means a game bought from Russia/CIS or South America can't be activated in other regions (it doesn't mean that the gift can't be traded or gifted, and if it's not from Russia/CIS or Brazil it can still be activated anywhere).
However, I also have seen games that don't have any of those entries on Steamdb but can't be activated in certain regions. For example:
So does the "AllowPurchaseFromRestrictedCountries" entry only mean that a game is only purchasable/not purchasable in the listed countries or does it actually mean that game can only/can't be activated in those countries ? If it only means purchase restriction then why can't the games above be activated in other countries and how can we tell if a game has activation lock ?
Yes, CD key activation is restricted by AllowPurchaseFromRestrictedCountries/PurchaseRestrictedCountries.
On gifts this doesn't prevent activation and I think it only prevents family sharing.
